Ever wonder what would happen if someone left your gas stove turned to the "ignite" setting for over 8 hours releasing massive amounts of natural gas into your home? Well, here is exactly what happens:
1. You smell something funny around 8 pm and write it off as nothing.
2. You wake up at midnight to feed your 7-month-old and notice that you have a headache and can definitely smell something.
3. You remember one of your sisters used your stove earlier in the day.
4. You groggily head downstairs and discover that gas has been leaking from your stove for the last several hours.
5. You debate with your husband about calling the emergency gas leak hot line. Finally, an image of your house exploding convinces you to make the call.
6. You call the gas company and are instructed to open windows and leave the house immediately. Only you can't open your garage door because it can create a spark which would make your house explode.
7. You happily remember that your truck happens to be in the driveway instead of the garage. Then you remember that you will have to move the car seat to the truck.
8. You try to transplant your sleeping baby to a freezing cold truck and drive to your parents' house. Transfer to the port-a-crib is semi-successful.
9. You wait for the gas technician to call. When he does, he is highly irritable.
10. Your husband has to drive back to the house and do extensive testing with the technician.
11. You finally fall asleep on an empty bed at your parent's house at 3:00 a.m., all the while wondering if your house will explode during the night. You also seriously regret not backing up the photos saved on your computer.
12. You wake up exhausted the next morning and are relieved to find your house is still standing.
And that is what happens if you manage to leave your gas stove on all night.

Holy crap!!!! I'm glad everything ended OK. I'll be sure to put the emergency gas leak hotline on speed dial.
It sounds like quite an experience! Glad you are all safe!
Ouch. Is it sad that I'd have to seriously weigh my options before I ever even considered disturbing a sleeping baby? Glad it all worked out okay and that your house didn't explode!
Holy moly! This is crazy! Glad you guys are Ok!
Oh my goodness! What a nightmare! I'm so glad everything turned out okay.
Not that it will happen again, but you can wake us up in the middle of the night any time. We can always make room for extra guests!
